The Solomon Islands are known for their rare nature, biodiversity, and unique and diverse culture, but they also face contemporary challenges related to climate change, disasters, environmental issues, and economic development. The country has conducted various academic research and human resource development activities, ranging from basic research to problem-solving research. Kyoto University has also achieved many results by promoting international joint research with researchers from multiple departments. Further exchanges in research and education are expected in the future. SINU is not only the largest university in the Solomon Islands but also one of the largest in Pacific Islands states. Moving forward, academic exchanges between Kyoto University and SINU will be conducted in various fields such as environment, health, agriculture, and socioeconomics.
